Session on ewaste

There is a lot of e-waste generated thanks to growing technology and an even growing consumer population,that wants to own the latest tech gadgets.Earlier,desktops had a shelf life of 15 years and the present day laptops have a shelf life of about 3-4 years. It is because of this constant need (read ,greed) that e-waste today is a mounting problem.For all the waste management plans we make,the mantra is the same - Reduce.Think twice before you buy.Very few organizations are working in this space of e-waste disposal. Highlighting this and elaborating with examples and video, Akhil T of class 11 addressed Be-2 Aware club students.

Few students from the club were lucky to visit Annadana and understand farming and seed preservation,while having fun.Low cost farming aids like biodigestor,vermicompost,pest control (by placing a phermone attractor that traps female insects that damage crops) were explained by the resource persons - Ms.Prithi,Ms.Sudha and Ms.Padma.Raised beds,transplantation,green manure were also explained in detail.Students watched videos on seed biodiversity and the significance of conserving seeds.It was an enriching experience.
