We Are What We Eat
GV Ramanjaneyulu
“We are what we eat and plants give us what we feed.” He is waging a war against the use of pesticides in agricultural activities and has challenged the traditional methods of farming. Apart from running the Centre for Sustainable Agriculture as the Executive Director, he also runs a small outlet, Sahaja Ahaaram, which stocks pest-free products from farmers. After leaving his full-time government job, Ramanjaneyulu dedicated himself to the benefit of farmers and his campaign, ‘India for Safe Food’

Creative articles @ DKS
Children were shown a video on Bio-Diversity. They were made into two groups and each group was asked to write or draw different articles using 5 different names from nature. The names were given by the other group as a challenge. Here are some poems written by the children:
BLADDER
WORT
What a
wonder the bladderwort is,
Beautifully
colored, a trap it is
It is attractive
when you look at it
But when an
insect comes and sits
It is no
more good,
Its Bladders
trap the insect
As it is its
food.
AMOEBA
So small and
shapeless,
The space it
occupies is so less
Organism
with one cell,
A name
difficult to spell
Occupies
space
And has no
face,
It is a
bacteria,
Which causes
diarrhea,
Takes in
food in a unique way,
Doesn’t have
a word to say
It is found
everywhere,
Can’t be
seen anywhere
Try to
observe it with a lens
It looks
immense
Now you know
about this creature
Which will
be taught by a teacher.
EARTH
I was born
with a rock in my head,
My
grandfather the sun, said the moon was my friend
My
grandfather sends me light as a gift
My body is
filled with oceans and land
I keep
working day and night
I may look
cool from out, but too hot in,
Guess who am
I ?
I am the
Earth.
