We started the session discussing on the previous class assignment “How was a single day in your parent’s life / in your grandparents’ life?”. Some of the students shared their views –
Student 1 : "My father used to wake up early morning, study for a while, get ready for school, change 3 buses and then walk a little distance to school. After coming back from school, he used to go to play, return home, study and then go to bed."
Student 2 :"My father used to cycle to school."
Student 3 :"My grandfather woke up early, used to do his homework, get ready for school. He used to walk to school. After coming back, he used to study for a while, go out to play. After play, he used to go for a walk in the park and return home. After dinner, he went to sleep."
After the discussion, a video was shown to the students which explained how several ‘I’ can become a ‘WE’ and how ‘WE’ can make a difference in the way of living. During this discussion, we had a suggestion how the shop keepers instead of charging for the plastic bags for the groceries and other stuff, can use paper bags or sell cloth bags only.
We showed them a powerpoint presentation on “Happiness – what it means to them and what are the means to stay happy”. Some of the students felt if they get a PSP vita or a PS2, it would make them happy. Some wanted a clean and green environment. Some wanted pollution free surroundings – no honking, less traffic etc.
All the students were asked to write at least 2 points as their ‘Plan of Action’.
