Dear Be2 Aware Members
Please see this - spread the word and participate :) - an interesting Summer Fun activity to do with friends and cousins ...
TreesIndia is envisioned to bring people from all walks of life together to contribute and build a vibrant virtual community around the charismatic, yet so familiar `trees'. One of our objectives is to document the natural and cultural history of all the trees in India.
We will start this challenging endeavour by having one species page for each of the trees found in India. India has more than 8000 tree species, and TreesIndia already has 1700 species pages of trees. These are contributed by various institutions and individuals, including ATREE, French Institute, Keystone Foundation, among others.
This is just the start, we will grow as more people make this group in the India biodiversity portal their own and contribute in anyway to make this portal a place to aggregate, validate and disseminate information on Trees of India. It should become a virtual easily-searchable encyclopedia on India trees.
In the future, the members of TreesIndia group hope to develop resources for students and teachers. We also hope to build easy keys to identify trees, initiate campaigns to conserve, protect, and restore endangered tree species. Come make this your community to share and contribute anything on trees in India.
